GHS Parent-Teacher Outreach

If you’re the parent of a Grenada High School student, make a point to join the new GHS Parent-Teacher Outreach, a group that aspires to create partnerships between the high school and Grenada community.

The organization is a way for parents to become involved in their child’s high school education as well as show appreciation to the teachers who help them day in and day out. The group works with the community to provide treats for teachers, such as breakfast on the day before they meet students and lunch after state testing.

“It’s not about the gift,” says the organization’s president, Terry Lane. “It’s about acknowledging, saying thank you, you’re doing a good job. It’s also about sharing ideas and talking to one another. It makes everyone — parents, teachers, and even students — more invested in education.”

The group also serves as a sounding board for the high school administration when they need parental opinions on new policies and programs, and it gives the community a window into the growth of Grenada’s next generation of leaders and productive citizens.
