Festivals

Grenada host two regional band festivals each year:

MHSAA Region II Marching Evaluations

All the marching bands in Region II travel to our campus to perform their marching productions for a panel of judges to receive ratings in the areas of band, color guard, majorette, percussion, and drum major. It is an honor and a privilege for our district to host this event and be able to support and celebrate the musical accomplishments of student from all over our region.

Date: October 8, 2022

Dr. Joe Berry Mullins Festival

This festival is held in memory of Dr. Joe Barry Mullins, who was Director of Bands at the University of Southern Mississippi from 1969-1980.  During his tenure at USM, he positively impacted thousands of students.  His outstanding teaching methods and encouragement led many of his students to choose a musical teaching or conducting career.  Dr. Mullins also conducted the University of Southern Mississippi Orchestra for many years.

The festival provides area schools the opportunity to showcase their middle and/or high school concert bands in a low stress environment where the groups can receive critique from highly qualified concert and sight-reading adjudicators.
