Grenada Band has a consistent record of accomplishments over the past 4 decades. Joe Presley, Director of Bands, says, “We strive to maintain Grenada Band’s tradition of setting high goals and standards.”
Grenada High School Band is composed of approximately 270 students, one/fourth of the enrollment of the high school. The students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands number almost 500 individuals, with the total band program encompassing almost 800.
Grenada Band emphasizes all areas of musicianship earning over 300 superior ratings in concert, marching, sight reading, and jazz.
In 1997, Grenada Band was designated as the National High School Band of the Year. Former Director of Bands Dr. David Daigneault was designated as the National High School Band Director of the Year by the National High School Band Directors Hall of Fame. In 1998, Dr. Daigneault was also recognized with a Mississippi Governor's Award in Education in the Arts. In 1996, Grenada Band received the Award of Excellence by the ASBDA for the north half of Mississippi.
