Cross Country
Coach: Chris Miller
Students who love to run but don’t wish to be confined to track and field may opt to join Grenada’s Cross Country team. It’s distance running over natural terrain, whether dirt or grass. It’s uphill and downhills, often through the woods, sometimes even in the rain.
Boys and girls entering grades 7-12 are eligible to try out in the spring for the team, which competes in the fall. Training is year-round, after school and during the summer, when the team will often meet at Grenada Lake to run the wilderness trails and even the levee incline. Weights, conditioning, and running are part of the training.
Five runners are considered a team for competition, though students can compete for individual scoring as well. The team participates in 5-6 meets per season, mostly away.
